Summary
Dear Amazing Grace people,
Merry Christmas in July! IT was the perfect Sunday for Christmas and celebrating the birth of Christ, as Jesus explained that we must be born from above, and thus, he was born “down below” with us to show us the Father. We’ve had a small number of rain storms, but not enough to hurt the church. It was Cake Sunday and we celebrated the birthdays and anniversaries of several of us – you will see on the video.
Well, we thought it was Lorraine Hurtik’s 100th birthday coming up – so there were cakes and flowers and cards because Lorraine’s birthday is the 6th, but someone said she will be out of town for her birthday. Lorraine didn’t know about that. AND.. come to find out, she was born in 1924, so she is soon to be 99. Well, that is a significant land mark of its own. Happy Birthday Lorraine!
Coming up – and a lunch and party on the 13th, will be the celebration of Carla Forgey turning 80, and Jerry Price turning 90. Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to our August celebrants.
We are digging into the truths of the gospel of John, chapter 3. Sometimes when a passage is so familiar, we skim over, thinking, oh, yeah, I know all about that. But we are finding some insights from the original language that makes a big difference in how we understand more. Our theme – “For God So Loved the World.” That verse, so popular, carries so much weight.
I hope you enjoy the video and the Christmas music. Oh, at the beginning, if difficult to understand some conversation, Lorraine is speaking – and she said that she joined the church in 1984, same as Kathy Hastens. The math tells us that Lorraine was only 60 years old, and she was blessed to move to AZ as a new widow and found her wonderful church family. That makes 39 years of being a member, elder, and leader in our church.
Thank you,
His,
Cheri
