Summary
Dear Amazing Grace people,
Happy Sunday and blessings on a wonderful week.
A happy luncheon and birthday cake was enjoyed by all in celebration of Carla Forgey’s 80th birthday, a very young 80 if you ask me; and Jerry Price’s 90th birthday. How does he keep up that spunky humor? To sit at a table with Jerry, Wes, Ron, and Charlie is to hear peals of laughter.
Judi Fortune led worship with Psalm 139:1-17, and our liturgical prayers. We are moving through the gospel of John gradually. Notice how John (and the other gospel writers as well) places passages in certain sequences to reveal truths intended to illuminate the truth of Jesus Christ. After the conversation with Nicodemus, John moves to a baptismal passage. After explaining the requisite to be born from above, have faith in Christ for our salvation, and the contrast between loving light or loving darkness; eternal life or judgment. Now for baptism. For John the Baptist and the disciples baptism was transitional between cleansing baths of the Temple to baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and now baptism as a public statement of identifying with the death and resurrection of Christ.
The video has a slight glitch because Dan was following the sprinkling of the congregation as a way of remembering their own baptism. In the attempt to splice the video, Dan discovered a new way to download the service that is much quicker than before. Way to go, Dan!
You’ve received the announcements from Mary, thank you Mary.
A couple of updates: First, the sign on the street now says “Amazing Grace Presbyterian Church” in place of “John Calvin Presbyterian Church.” Commemorating the lives of Charles Hoyle and Alan Hale, there will be a dedication ceremony when it is cool enough for us to surround the sign and take a group photo. Blessings to Barbara Hoyle and Wilma Hale, as they chose to pay for the sign with the memorial funds for their husbands
The digging should start very soon to achieve the flood abatement work. The survey flags are in place. Please pray for few, if any, problems in completing it.
Wishing you blessings all through the week,
Thank you,
His,
Cheri
