Summary
Happy Blessed Sunday!
Today’s service was titled “Minding the Gap”. Pastor Peggy talked about the different rail lines she road on through her life in the states. She had mentioned about the British, that you needed to be careful by the trains and “Mind the Gap”.
We started our Gospel reading in Mark 7:1-8. Mark talked about Jesus’ meeting with the Pharisees and His disciples eating without washing their hands. Jesus said that the Pharisees were hypocrites. That the people just gave Him lip service and that those rules from the Pharisees were human rules. Paraphrasing, He said that “you have let go of the commands of God and holding onto human traditions.” So, Jesus is making a statement to follow Him and God’s commandments. Sounds simple, but we know how hard it is to walk the right way.
Our Epistle lesson was James 1:1-27. James who wrote this letter to go to the churches is said to be the half-brother of Jesus. James talks about trials and temptations, that it was a testing of their faith. If you are lacking anything, you should ask God to help you with wisdom who gives generously to those that believe. If you don’t believe, don’t expect to hear from God. He expects us to persevere when under trials, so we can be with Him, because He loves us. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father.” Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. Do not just listen to the word, do what it says. For if you listen and do what was said that you heard, you will be blessed in what you do.
Let us pray to know what wisdom the Lord is sending to us and that we can show Him as his believers that we will follow Him, the righteous way, taking care of those who need help and try not to be polluted by what is going on in today’s world.
Mary
