Summary
Reverend Lisa Gurney presided today at our service. Many thanks to her, we will see her again next week. It was Communion Sunday, and Pastor Cheri was there to serve, along with playing our songs, along with Bev with the prelude and music during communion.
Today’s service was from the Book of Daniel. To set the stage, in Daniel 3:1-7, King Nebuchadnezzar having a gold statue built for him. It was sixty cubits which translates to 20 inches per cubit in Babylon (Israel cubit was considered 18 inches), making the statue 90-100 feet tall. The King sent out word that once all the musical instruments stated playing, harp, lute, flute and all the other instruments they had, that everyone was to fall down and worship this golden idol.
The story continues. Everyone fell once the music started playing. This did not go well with Daniel or his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach or Abednego because they were faithful Jews and did not bow down to an idol.
The King had Daniel’s three friends thrown into a fiery furnace. Miraculously, they survived this fire and a fourth person was seen in the fire with them. It was their faith in God, that no matter what happened in the fire, they would either die and go to heaven or survive that kept them alive with not a burn on them. It was the protector, maybe an angel, or Jesus or God himself, keeping them safe.
How strong is your faith?
We pray that our church is strong enough to survive and grow in Jesus Christ.
Many blessings to all, the video link is attached below.
